1. Desire a better world.
“Get passionate about who we are, what we’re trying to do and how we’re trying to do it.”
In a society where ‘desire’ has become more about consumerism and the individual, we need people who are passionate about our cause.
People who desire a world in which children and young people (regardless of their race, culture, background, circumstances, or other status) can have a voice, have access to meaningful opportunities and can be empowered to create and determine a positive future.
Practical things you can do:
- Apply the SpeakOut tag-line to your daily activities and “Change your world”. The choices you make, the products you purchase, the time you invest can have a positive and lasting effect on your community and the planet.
2. Educate yourself and others.
“Positive and lasting change cannot be achieved without understanding and education.”
We need a network of active, passionate and well-informed people, organisations and communities.
Stay informed, and inform others, about the issues, ideas, programs and events we are involved in and trying to address.
Practical things you can do:
- Subscribe to receive free SpeakOut updates and e-news.
- Read our Charter.
- Download our Factsheet and email it to your friends and colleagues.
- Read Speaking Out.
3. Guide our development.
“Apply your professional skills to a worthy cause.”
We need professionals and companies with specific areas of expertise to help build the capacity of our organisation and the young people and communities we work with.
Are you an arts or creative industries practitioner?
Do you work in the legal or finance sectors?
Are you a business professional or entrepreneur?
Practical things you can do:
- Facilitate a training session or workshop for our staff and/or young people and communities we work with.
- Host a workplace visit or presentation.
- Mentor our organisational development or young people seeking to get their career or small business idea off the ground.
4. Resource our work.
“An investment in SpeakOut’s programs and services is money well spent, with $3 being returned to the community for every $1 invested.”
We are always in need of resources that will assist in delivery of our programs, and more effectively equip the young people and communities we work with.
SpeakOut is a registered Charity, Public Benevolent Institution and Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR). All donations over $2, whether they are one-off or ongoing through mechanisms such as workplace giving, are tax deductible.
